Day 18 of our 31 Days of Photo Fun already? Wow, are we just flying through this month or what?
I've got another fun idea for you, one that we ladies know is ALWAYS a fun idea! Play dress up!
What your subject wears for your photos really makes all the difference in the world (I'll talk more about "what to wear" on Day 20). But how fun is it to play dress up and really go all out once in a while! When we're dressed up, be it simply in our Sunday best, or in super crazy fun costumes, everything changes.
So if you're taking your kids out to capture some photos, take the time to dress them up. Involve them in the process if possible. If your kids are anything like mine, the right outfit can make the shot- the wrong one can make for a miserable day!
Never miss the opportunity to capture a portrait of a young man in his tuxedo! So handsome!
But dress up doesn't have to mean fancy. Think of your kids collectively, as a unit, and have fun with their dress up! Here's a idea you can make into an annual tradition (although I'm guessing my now 8 year old will NOT be cooperating with this much longer!).
And of course, who can forget costume play! My little guy loves this lion costume, and even wants to run around in it now, during the hot summer months! If you've got a little one like this at home, grab your camera and capture the moment. This lion costume has been through all 3 of my kids and it will be a sad day when it no longer fits my baby. So I'm making sure I've got the photos to remember it!
And remember, your idea of dress up might be very different than your child's, so capture THEIR dress up too! Once, after an evening out, we returned to find our daughter and the baby-sitter like this. First I cracked up. Then I got the shot. (This is one of the many reasons why Jackie is one of Brady's favorite baby-sitters in the world! You gotta love an awesome sitter!)
So have fun and play dress up! And think outside the box!
What ways do your kids like to play dress up? What's the best photo you've gotten of them playing dress up? Share with us!
And keep shooting!
